We know there are bound to be lots of questions about our expansion plans so we’ve had a think about what you might want to know and put together some answers…

Where will the new BankWest Retail branches be located?
The new BankWest Retail branches will be located in Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, creating a national branch network. Specific locations are still being finalised, but all new branches will be conveniently located in major shopping centres or retail high streets.

What will the new Retail branches look like and what makes them so different?
We’re creating a totally new retail banking experience. The new BankWest Retail branches are being designed to create a friendlier and more open customer experience. They will look and feel different, with refreshed colours and interior design to grab attention and stand out from our competitors. This is just one of the many changes we are making to refresh your banking experience.

When will the new branches open?
We’re undertaking a rolling programme of new branch openings, with the first branches opening in the last quarter of 2007.

Will existing BankWest branches be refurbished in the same style as the new branches?
Yes. Over time we will endeavour to update our existing branches and this will be part of the ongoing refurbishment process.

Will any West Coast branches be closing?
No. We actually plan to open more branches in WA, building the network to 100 branches.

Can I maintain my existing relationship with my local branch or is my account
going to be centralised?
Your banking relationship with us will remain unchanged.

Will you be moving all your business East, and not concentrating on your West Coast business?
Not at all. Our national expansion plans do not change our commitment to being a leading West Australian financial services provider. Over the next two years BankWest will undertake a branch expansion program in Western Australia that will increase the number of branches in our home state.

Will you still be using brokers?
Yes. Brokers are crucial to our business. Our expansion will actually provide you with more opportunities to chat face-to-face with your broker.

Isn’t BankWest owned by a UK bank?
BankWest is part of HBOS plc, one of Europe’s largest financial institutions. It is with the backing of our parent company that we are able to undertake this expansion.
